Nancy Motley Walton - Fine Art
A graduate of Trinity College, Hartford, CT, Nancy began her painting career in the mid-eighties, painting in oils in the field of Decorative Arts. After several years, she gravitated to watercolors, studying with Nancy Sargent Howell. Subsequently, she has studied under George Shed, portrait painter Robert Cormier, Australian painters Alvaro Castagnet and Joseph Zbukvic, Mary Whyte, Paul George, John Salminen, Edward Minchin, Eric Wiegardt, Frederick Graff and most recently Australian artist Janine Gallizia.
Nancy believes that a successful painting is one which both pleases the eye and touches something deep within the soul of the viewer. Though primarily a representational painter, she explores different genres and subject matter, depending on what catches her eye, and how she can best communicate her response to that, constantly challenging herself. This has also taken her into working in oils from time to time, as inspiration calls.
Nancy is a Signature Member and Vice- President of the New England Watercolor Society, a Master Artist at the Cape Cod Art Assoc., as well as a member of the Needham Art Assoc. (former President) and former member of the Copley Society of Boston . She is an exhibiting artist at the Old Sculpin Gallery in Edgartown on Martha's Vineyard. She has received numerous awards over the past several years.
During the school year, Nancy teaches watercolor classes in Needham. Her work can be seen on her website www.nancywalton.com and she can be reached at nbmwalton@gmail.com.
